Treks of 1, 2, 3, or 4 days. Exceptional sceneries and all smiles habitants. Let them lead you in the Yungas of Tarija. Follow some gorges of bamboos and ferns and discover the pampas of altitude. Meet and rub shoulders with condors on their Andean plateau at the cliffs’ edge where they nest. Sometimes, they come so close to you that you can listen to whisper of the wind in their wings.
It is possible and even recommended to combine the trek with a visit to the vineyards and region-artisanal wines producers.

Summary

This trek allow you:

  • To observe the condors in their natural habitat, often very close, during a moderate-altitude trek of an entire day (between 2000 and 3000 meters). Several possible circuits. Maximum 800m of height difference.
  • To discover the rural life of the South of Bolivia, thanks to the guide’s explications who’s also farmer and breeder.
  • To milk the cows at the end of the trek and taste the typical ambrosia.
  • To discover an authentic and welcoming adobe construction (mud-bricks fired at sun) where you’ll take the breakfast and a good hot meal at 5 p.m.

There are between 5 and 9 hours of hiking, according to the itinerary and level of difficulty chosen, counting the photo-stops, the picnic and breaks to blow that you choose yourself.

But more you climb, more they go down to observe you at their turn. Arrival on the plateaus at about 11 a.m. You overhang the cliffs where they live. They fly in front of you. You arrive to the base camp at about 4 or 4:30 p.m. A hot meal is waiting for you, creole or international, with an altitude wine and a hot shower if you don’t want to wait the return to Tarija. You can eventually milk the cow if the weather is good. You come back to Tarija in car at about 6:30 p.m. or a little earlier if you have a bus or a plane to take.

Option milking cows, then, meal, relaxing evening and good sleeping night.

On the 4th day you choose your program.
You can sleep late, take a long brunch watching the birds, or walk to the dams to a deserved bathe. It’s also possible – with a little supplement – to make cheese or bread in an oven in a family. Return to Tarija where you arrive at the end of the afternoon
